Bed Time Dance

Bedtime Dance

Something is different. Something has changed.
All of a sudden Sydney’s body feels strange.

Her lips are making a smile on her face.
Her heart is running at an unusual pace.

She looks outside with a quick glance.
Her body starts moving in a rhythmic dance.

Her nose is itching.
Her ears are twitching.

Her head is swinging.
Her mouth is singing.

Her arms are flapping.
Her hands are clapping.

Her belly is jiggling.
Her hips are wiggling.

She is grooving.
All of her parts are moving.

This dance is fun.
but it’s time to sleep and Sydney’s body is done.

All of a sudden into bed she leaps.
She shut her eyes and falls fast asleep.

This is the end of Sydney’s bedtime dance.
It will put you to sleep if you give it a chance.

Frogs jump up and down.

Here is a fun little book that I wrote
for my daughter when she was younger....

Frogs jump up and down.
Turtles crawl across the ground.

Snakes slither and slide.
Bunnies bounce far and wide.

Jellyfish float.
Alligators swim in a moat.

Lizards lay on rocks.
Goats eat your socks.

Elephants like to dance.
Cats prance, prance, prance.

Dolphins splish and splash.
Pigs roll in mash.

Lions roar.
Eagles fly and soar.

Bats flap their wings.
Birds sing and sing.

Crocodiles lie in the sun.
Deer scamper, leap and run.

Kangaroos carry babies in their pouch.
Old dogs sit on the couch.

What happens when its time to stop.
We kiss our mom, we hug our pop.

We say good night. We flick off the light.
We shut our eyes with all our might.

Goodnight.
Sleep tight.

My little girl turned 8 at 8:01

My little girl turned 8 at 8:01 this morning. When I woke up this morning, I wanted to remember how it felt to be pregnant.

I remember it like a person watching a movie.

It is funny how time changes us. I am not sure that I am the same woman that had that beautiful child.

Here's to the crazy ones...

Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules... You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do. - Steve Jobs

Eyes

You know, I can see two tiny pictures of myself And there's one in each of your eyes. And they're doin' everything I do. Every time I light a cigarette, they light up theirs. I take a drink and I look in and they're drinkin' too. It's drivin' me crazy. It's drivin' me nuts.

Laurie Anderson, Sharkey's Night

All of Me.

I like to write simple little books
to make my little girl giggle.

I have hair
that always grows.

I have skin
from my head to my toes.

I have a brain
that is made for thinking.

I have eyes
that are always blinking.

I have a nose
that is good for smelling.

I have a mouth
I use for yelling.

I have lips
that are good for hushing.

I have cheeks
that won’t stop blushing.

I have a neck
that holds up my head.

I have shoulders
that are widespread.

I have arms
that are good for throwing.

I have elbows
that I use for rowing.

I have a wrist
that is very bony

I have fingers
to eat macroni

I have a chest
that holds my heart.

I have a stomach
that is my middle body part

I have a back
that holds me straight.

I have hips
to support my weight.

I have legs
for taking long strides.

I have knees
for horseback rides.

I have feet
that make me giggle.

I have toes
that dance and wiggle.

I have many parts,
as you can see.

And all my parts,
belong to just me.

Feeling Gratitude

Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it. - William Arth

Super-Charged

"Half our life is spent trying to find something to do with the time we have rushed through life trying to save." - Will Rogers

It is official. I have AADHD.

...It's like being super-charged all the time. You get one idea and you have to act on it, and then, what do you know, but you've got another idea before you've finished up with the first one, and so you go for that one, but of course a third idea intercepts the second, and you just have to follow that one, and pretty soon people are calling you disorganized and impulsive and all sorts of impolite words that miss the point completely. Because you're trying really hard. It's just that you have all these invisible vectors pulling you this way and that, which makes it really hard to stay on task. -Edward M. Hallowell

I am in the Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity league with Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Thomas A. Edison, George Bernard Shaw, the Wright brothers, and Albert Einstein, as well as successful modern politicians (Bill Clinton and George W. Bush). Ofcourse, I found this list on a website where the goal is to make folks feel better about having AADHD.

The Up Side of Down

“Yes, you can lose somebody overnight, yes, your whole life can be turned upside down. Life is short. It can come and go like a feather in the wind.” - Shania Twain

During my mom and dad's vacation to Vegas, my foundantion was rocked and my life turned up-side down.

Upside Down House in Russia
After doodling this, I could not resist the urge to Google, "Upside-Down House". I am not sure if this is a common building practice but here is a house in the St. Petersburg region of Russia that is actually upside down. It is worth a look http://www.englishrussia.com/?p=494.

Loveliest of
lovely things are they,

On earth,
that soonest pass away.

The rose that lives
its little hour

Is prized beyond
the sculptured flower.

William Cullen Bryant

No More Stinkin' Thinkin'

I have been doing a lot of stinkin' thinkin' over the last 6 months.
My little world has seemed a little smaller and so has my mind.
Today. I am putting an end to the stinkin' thinkin'.

I will think positive. I will be positive. I will positively live.
